What is a Chromebook?

Chromebook is a laptop running on Google’s Chrome OS operating system. Unlike traditional operating systems, Chrome OS is focused not on desktop applications, but on web services. The main work on such a device takes place in the cloud using the Internet and applications from the Google ecosystem. Each Chromebook owner automatically receives 100 GB of cloud storage from Google, which is a nice bonus to this convenient laptop. Gadgets are also distinguished by their lightness, compact size, long service life and affordable price.

To use the Acer Chromebook, you need to log in using your Gmail account. This makes the Chromebook convenient for use by several people at the same time, which is especially useful in offices with shared access to devices or for employees who work in shifts.

The Chromebook is equipped with everything you need for office work: a word processor, spreadsheets, presentations, notes, as well as email and a web browser. After logging in, the user gains access to their files, messages, bookmarks, and photos stored in Google’s cloud services.

Processor types in Chromebooks

The processor is responsible for managing computing operations and is a key component of a computer or laptop. Acer equips its devices with processors of various series, such as:

  • AMD;
  • Intel Celeron;
  • Intel Core;
  • Intel Pentium.

The number of processor cores varies depending on the needs of the buyer: from 2 to 12 cores. A larger number of cores provides higher performance of the device.

The clock frequency of the processors ranges from 1 GHz to 3.5 GHz, and the declared base power can be increased by overclocking, which makes the device more versatile and powerful.

Features of Acer Chromebook displays

Screen sizes range from 13 to 17 inches or more. Acer uses three main types of matrices:

  • IPS;
  • OLED;
  • TN+Film.

The most popular is the IPS matrix, which provides wide viewing angles (up to 170–178 degrees) and accurate color reproduction compared to other types of screens.

OLED displays use organic light-emitting diodes. Their main difference from IPS is that each pixel is illuminated separately, without side lighting. This technology is less common in Acer laptops and is typical for premium models.

TN + Film matrices are the cheapest option for production. They are distinguished by their minimal response time, which makes them suitable for displaying fast, dynamic scenes.

Screens can be glossy or matte. Acer is increasingly using matte coatings that prevent glare and improve outdoor usability without sacrificing image quality.

Chromebook graphics capabilities

Acer laptops use video cards from three trusted manufacturers:

Video adapters can be discrete (separate) or integrated. Discrete video cards are independent devices that have their own memory, chipset, and power supply.

Integrated video cards, in turn, are built into the processor or motherboard. This type of video adapter does not have its own memory and uses the RAM or processor resources of the laptop to work.

The amount of memory on video cards can vary from 2 to 16 GB. For integrated cards, this indicator is dynamic, changing depending on the load.

The device cases are made of high-quality plastic, and the laptop covers can be either plain or decorated in a designer style with backlighting. The weight of the gadgets varies depending on the components and materials used, ranging from 1.5 to 3 kilograms.

The case can accommodate various connectors, such as USB (versions 2.0, 3.0 and 3.2), LAN, HDMI, as well as for headphones with a diameter of 3.5 mm.
